Therapy for Life Transitions

Life transitions are a part of all of our lives. Some are wanted and celebrated. Others are unexpected and devastating. You might be seeking therapy to talk about finishing school or going back to school. Maybe you lost a job or just got another, are changing careers, or are retiring. Perhaps, you’re starting your family or are a recent empty nester. Maybe you’re starting or ending a relationship.

Whatever you bring in, I am here to offer support, identify your needs, and develop a plan to move forward.  First, we will focus on coping with the many difficult thoughts and emotions that accompany life transitions. You might be anxious, sad, angry, or grieving. Approaches we might use include mindfulness, cognitive skills, or Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Second, we will focus on what you want for this next chapter of your life. We might use ACT to reflect on your personal values and what a fulfilling life means to you. Self-reflection through mindfulness and journaling can play an important role in this process. Developing and taking committed action towards your goals would be the next part of your journey. In addition, we would want to address barriers and setbacks including how to cope with them.

If a life transition is impacting your quality of life, schedule a free 15-minute consultation where we can discuss you..
