Learning Coping Skills
Life is constantly throwing surprises at us. Coping skills are strategies and techniques that people can use to manage stress, handle emotions, and deal with life’s hardships.
Learning coping skills is important to deal with day-to-day stress as well as more long-term challenges. The right coping skills can help keep stress at a manageable level. They can reduce some barriers to your goals. In addition, they can help you be more present with your loved ones and in your work.
As part of therapy, we’ll look at what has worked for you in the past. We’ll examine how your hobbies and interests can be part of your coping routine. We’ll look at your self-care routine and make any needed adjustments. Perhaps you want to return to something that you enjoyed in the past. Or maybe, you want to try something new.
In addition, we’ll review skills and strategies to manage difficult thoughts and feelings. Some approaches we might use are mindfulness, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Acceptance Commitment Therapy.
If you think you can benefit from learning new skills or revisiting familiar ones, I invite you to schedule a free 15-minute consultation where we can discuss your coping strategies.
