About Me
I’m a licensed clinical social worker with 18 years of experience providing therapy for adults. My journey has been meandering but meaningful. I’ve lived in multiple states and worked in many different programs. An overarching theme of my journey is lifelong learning! To that end, I’ve spent many years in therapy myself. Doing so has only affirmed how much I believe in it.
My foundation as a therapist is inspired by an early mentor who brought Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT) and mindfulness practice to the team at a drop-in center for unhoused adults. Our main focus was helping people get through their days and connect with resources. We offered tools from ACT to manage unwanted negative thoughts and feelings. Later, if some stability could be achieved, we would look ahead to what people cared about for their present and future. Living a meaningful life and addressing what gets in the way continues to be important, whoever I work with!
One of my great passions is helping trauma survivors heal and move forward. Early in my career, working with unhoused adults and survivors of domestic violence, it became clear that trauma was everywhere. During this time, I realized I was good at making people feel comfortable and safe enough to start sharing what they had gone through. These clients inspired me to be the best trauma therapist I could be. From there, I set out to learn as much as I could. I started with EMDR training and have continued from there to Cognitive Processing Therapy and Internal Family Systems. My eagerness to learn continues to this day. I bring this everywhere I have been, from working with veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs to supervising therapists in training.
This practice is a safe, affirming place for you to pause, heal, and learn. Then, I hope you bring what you learn here into your life. Together we can learn how to surf no matter the size of the waves
